Bangkok 'third most popular city in the world'

Bangkok has been found to be the third most-visited city on earth by new research from Mastercard.

The Global Destination Cities Index report predicted that 2012 tourist arrivals in the Thai capital will be around 12.2 million - a figure that was beaten only by London (16.9 million) and Paris (16.0 million).

Economist Yuwa Hedrick-Wong, who compiled the data, said "Bangkok is again the number one destination city in Asia, a reflection of its strong and abiding appeal to tourists from the rest of the world."

Bangkok to host Miracle of Thai Food and Fruit Festival 2012

CentralWorld in Bangkok, one of the largest shopping centres in the world, will play host to the Miracle of Thai Food and Fruit Festival 2012.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), which is running the event, is hoping to tempt tourists with over 40 booths selling products from across the country, NNT reports.

This year, the TAT is said to be anticipating a ten per cent growth in takings and hungry tourists are sure to find plenty of dishes they are willing to part with their Bahts for, as Thai dishes have been voted among the 50 most delicious in the world by CNN Go.
